Who We Are
The Credit Counselling Society
MyMoneyCoach.ca is a free public service provided by the Credit Counselling Society (CCS). CCS provides consumers with confidential and free counselling services, credit education, and debt management programs.
Purpose of the Website
Why MyMoneyCoach.ca Was Created
MyMoneyCoach.ca was launched in 2010 out of the Credit Counselling Society’s concern that very few Canadian websites were objectively showing average Canadians how to save money on their everyday living expenses and how to make smart financial choices without trying to sell them something. Since a significant part of the Credit Counselling Society’s expertise lies in saving people money and educating the public about personal money management, we recognized that we were well suited to provide this kind of a public service. The fact that so many people at the Credit Counselling Society are passionate about helping people make smart financial choices seemed to make this look like the perfect outreach for CCS to engage in. By educating the public through a website, CCS can help far more Canadians than by any other means.
As a non-profit service, part of the Credit Counselling Society’s (CCS) mandate is to educate consumers about how to manage their money better and how to use credit wisely. MyMoneyCoach.ca has become an important part of CCS’s educational outreach to Canadians.
Educating Canadians about the wise use of credit is a key part of the Credit Counselling Society’s mandate. The Credit Counselling Society believes that doing this through MyMoneyCoach creates a true win-win situation. Consumers get the information that they are looking for and the Credit Counselling Society gets the opportunity to educate them and improve the financial literacy of Canadians in the process.
Objective Financial Literacy
To Help Canadians Make Smarter Financial Decisions
Because the Credit Counselling Society is a non-profit organization, we believe that it is an ideal organization to sponsor a website like MyMoneyCoach.ca and allow our staff to speak to Canadians in a frank and candid manner about their finances.
Being more accountable and transparent than any other organization in the debt help and relief industry, the Credit Counselling Society believes that Canadians can trust that the staff of MyMoneyCoach.ca are not pressured to promote any company’s products or services. We believe that being sponsored by a non-profit entity allows our staff to be as objective as possible. Having said this, our experience in the financial industry combined with our research has admittedly influenced our perspective. We believe that Canadians can only be the wisest consumers when they are properly informed of all their options and are properly educated about how to make smart financial decisions. This is what financial literacy is all about. Through this website we believe that we can make a strong contribution towards educating Canadians about how to use their finances wisely. That is why we created this website. To ensure objectivity, MyMoneyCoach.ca also does not allow any kind of paid advertising or endorsements on this site.
